A must have for any serious vintage military watch collection. This is a vintage 1964-1966 bead-blasted stainless steel Blancpain (Tornek-Rayville) TR900 Milspec Diver. It has a Nylon dive strap with a stainless steel clasp, and an acrylic crystal. It has a screw down solid case back with an outer ring, and its engraved with "IF FOUND RETURN TO NEAREST MILITARY FACILITY – AEC LICENSE 8-59-10-6 - MIL-W-22176 – DANGER – NON MAGNETIC," and the Radiation Danger Emblem with "RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL." Inside the case back is "TORNAY WATCH CO. – SWISS – STAINLESS STEEL," and because of the "Buy American Act" of 1933, it does no t have the Blancpain TM on the dial. This is undoubtedly one of the most important US military watches in history. It includes the original anti-magnetic brass dust cover, and it was produced and sold between 1964-1966 and delivered to the US navy without the Blancpain TM on the dial (due to "Buy American act" of 1933), making it extremely rare. The 40mm diameter solid two-body case, unidirectional rotating flat black bezel with Arabic numerals and markers, and gently curved lugs, are satin/brushed. It includes the original black dial in excellent condition, with an evenly aged luminous patina, on the circle, baton, and triangular hour indices, as well as the steel pointed baton hands. The dial is signed "Tornek - Rayville US," and there is a circular moisture indicator at 6 o clock. There is a luminous center sweep second hand with an arrow tip. It has a power reserve of 38-hours at full winding, its water resistant to 200 meters/660 feet, and the c ase, dial, and movement are all signed. It has a self-compensating flat balance spring, an index regulator, a monometallic Glucydur balance, and the rotor segment is gold-engraved with "TORNEK-RAYVILLE NO TR-900. It has a hacking seconds device for precision time setting, and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 18,000 vhp (2.5 Hz). Only around 1,000 Blancpain (Tornek-Rayville) TR900 Milspec Divers were made, and most were then destroyed because the watch made use of Prometheum 147, a radioactive element produced from uranium with a half-life of 2.6234 years.
